Eve Of A New Year.....

So I am scrambling to get things finished before the New Year. Unfortunately, this includes getting my filing in order for my accountant. (Side Note: My Mom is my accountant-she is quite good, I know I am BEYOND lucky, it is okay to be jealous. I think God knew when he gave me this brain devoid of any numerical or mathematical skills except measurements-comes with the job- that he would have to make sure someone was looking out for me.) Anyhoo, so organization was on the brain when I came across these, from one of my favorites....
I have always liked this furniture with the cutouts although it is rare that I am so drawn to Bright White furniture
Does anyone else have a hard time finding good looking book cases? Any of these would be a great addition to my office....

Okay back to filing I go. I hope everyone has a HAPPY and SAFE New Years Eve. I will see y'all next year (may not be until Monday, we will see how things go)

Is Your Dog Possessed?

Sometimes when Harry gets super hyper he will NOT stay off my lap, he will continue to jump on me, content to sit there while I type. While this is endearing, it also makes getting things done that much harder. How glamorous am I? Yes , those are sweats I am wearing. Yes, that is wine- don't worry I am just blogging not working. What can I say, it is late and COLD.Good Night!!!!

The City

Most of the cast of The Hills drove me batty (yet I still watch, what is my problem?)....the only one I really liked was Whitney. So naturally, I was excited she got her own show, working for Diane von Furstenburg (one of my absolute favorites) no less. So in honor of the big premier I thought we should take a peek at the Spring '09 collection....
How fun.....
Note to self: buy elaborate headband for spring....
Follow up note to self: While you may LOVEEEE the look of the elaborate headband, you could NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NOT EVER PULL THAT OFF, at least not here in the 'Ham....
I want the entire look below...
Probably too short for this...but I like it!
Reminds me of a dress I wish I had bought at Anthropologie a few years ago that still haunts me...
I wonder how many pennies I would have to save to make this one mine ( I will start saving today)It's Love.
I can't tell y'all how much I want every one of those dresses, I mean REALLY want them. I am obsessed with Diane, did anyone see her on Project Runway? I even loved her American Express commercials......

PS- I wrote this post before I saw the premier, I hope it was good.

...my 24 hours in NYC

...drove up friday evening from newport and met up with Keenhan Konya, who was very nice to take me out on the town and let me stay in Brooklyn. I cant thank him enough, he was amazing company and such a design talent. The next morning i was to meet up with David Cafiero at his store located in Manhattan. We met early, saw the store which is filled right now with tons of furniture, objects and art to be installed in their latest project. David then suggested that we go out to Stamford and he show me where he does a majority of his shopping, seeing as antiquing is my favorite past time, i was more than excited. We drove, we talked, he imparted countless ideas on design and helpful hints and secrets he's picked up along the way to where he is today. Shopping was great with the highlight being www.stamfordantiques.com. I can't say enough about David, it was just one of those experiences where (and forgive me if im not being eloquent) but, meeting someone who shares so many similar ideas on scale and look and feel in terms of interiors and actually life in general. I cannot thank him and Keenhan enough for the priceless experience i had with them. These images above are from the store and his website, please check him out if your in the city and keep your eyes open for what im sure will be more and more eye opening and inspiring interiors projects from Cafiero Select.

A Mississippi Christmas

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday! This year we packed the car and headed to my husband's home - Mississippi. While I am from Nashville, Mississippi holds a special place in my heart since I went to college there (Ole Miss in Oxford) and it is where I met my husband. We went to Brookhaven and McComb to visit both sets of his parents.....I fully intended to take many more pictures since both of the homes are wonderful with many treasures. However, for whatever reason I was lazy ( I needed it) and only came away with these pictures of his actual home....
Above is the bench that inspired my bamboo post....As you know by now I have total fireplace/mantel envy and this one is on the top of the list. You just don't find that kind of detail anymore.....

I know many of you reading this have never been to Mississippi and the only mental image you have is from the media or movies which is usually dreadful. However, there are so many gems to be discovered there, history you don't find just anywhere. So I took some pictures of just a few of the beautiful old homes in the area just to give you an idea of what you might find....(BTW-as with most of my post pictures I had to be somewhat stealth and this time I had the Hubby driving the car so some, well most, will not be PERFECT pictures. I also would like to take this moment to thank PHS for being my partner in crime, something I know made him VERY uncomfortable).....
I love the driveway above.
I just have a thing for WHITE homes.
I hope to own an old house one day, or at least one with a lot of character. New subdivisions with the cookie cutter McMansions do nothing for me. One reason is that the trees are never even close to one below.....
Not sure the story of this house but the yellow door made me SOOO HAPPY. We will be painting our front door ASAP.
I would change the color of this house, but I dream of a porch like this....Interesting....

On a side note if you are in the area you must try The Caboose in McComb for a wonderful meal.

One day I will do a post on Oxford, MS, a place you must see at least once in your life. Back to the real world...booo.

It Is Almost That Time....

The time has come for me to sign off for a while for some much needed R&R. So I will leave you with some images from Southern Accents......
I sigh out loud when I look at this room, delicate, fabulous, very restful....
IF ANYONE OUT THERE CAN TELL ME HOW TO GET BRANCHES TO A.) LOOK LIKE THIS AND B.) STAY LOOKING LIKE THIS I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT BRANCHES AND I LOVE THEM.
How fun is this tree? I don't know that I will ever do one like this, but it makes me smile.
This picture is named "Subdued Elegance", need I say more?
Dear Santa,

I have tried my best to be good this year. All I want for Christmas is a working fireplace with a pretty mantel.

XOXO
Marianne
