I Swear I Don't Work For West Elm

Maybe it is because I am DYING to change the rug in my guest bedroom, but I have rugs on the brain. Then I got an e-mail from W.E. with their new rugs and it was love. I have come to the conclusion that I am a stripe person.
Love herringbone- on everything, it is ridiculous. This rug is indoor/outdoor so I want to see it person because you never know, but so far so good.

E.H. - this is going in your file. Once the piece of furniture gets here we can decide but indoor/outdoor=kid friendly.
BTW- I was at Pier 1 a few days ago (at The Summit for those here in Birmingham) and they had these rugs on sale, I want one. Seriously. Bad. I know the price is awesome but I trying out a shopping, well buying hiatus. I am sure if you saw me in the store the other day you would have been able to tell I was having a inner battle with myself.
PS- the zebra is not black, it is actually dark blue, even better if you ask me. I believe these are all indoor/outdoor too but I could be wrong about that.

One Day: Art On The Floor

Ever since I saw this floor at market in Atlanta I have been dreaming of having a design on my floors somewhere in my house.

**I can't remember the showroom to give proper credit, if anyone does know please send me a note.
So when I saw these floors in House Beautiful it was love at first sight.
Designer Jeffrey Bilhuber based this design off of the hex signs found decorating old barns in the Pennsylvania Dutch country. He is my new design hero.
So I am filing this away in my "one day" folder. The closest I have come to this is painting the horrible tile on my bathroom floor a solid color. Since I finally ordered a new camera I hoping to have better house pictures soon and I will share the before and after.

Have a great weekend!

Robert & Sherwin- A Match Made In Color Heaven

I was searching for some fabric the other day on Robert Allen when I came across their new collaboration with Sherwin Williams. The companies are working together to come up with some great color/fabric combinations. See more combinations and get the full story HERE.

Usually I am Benjamin Moore girl, but yesterday I was in Sherwin Williams and I saw some colors I want to try. I need to get one of their color decks, I had one at one time but it seems to have disappeared....

"And Now," cried Max, "Let The Wild Rumpus Start!"

I know it has been a long time coming, but now it is finally close! The movie version of Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak is set to be in theaters in October. Who didn't love this book as a child? Just the cover brings a smile to my face.I don't know why it is such a cult classic, but for me I think it was/is the illustrations and the places an active imagination could/can take you. The book was even used as a trial run for a nursery project seen HERE.As you can tell, this photo was taken in the VERY early brainstorming stages and we used a more colorful book, but don't be surprised if you see a version of that wall using this book in the near future...

What We Can Learn From Steve-No Computers Involved

Monday night I found myself laughing out loud at Steve Wozniak performing on Dancing With The Stars. However, it was not his complete lack of dancing skills that had me so amused, it was the fun he was clearly having. So often we worry about what other people think, and here is this goofy guy dancing his heart out in front of millions to see. If only we could all loosen up a little and not take ourselves so seriously like Steve...

What would you do if you were not worried of what others might think?

My Shining Knight

With yesterday's post came a couple of comments/e-mails about the table in the photo above (thanks for the question, I love the feedback).

My search for the source brought me back to an old flame, Allan Knight.

The maker of exquisite furniture and lighting has a way with acrylic.
I know the love of Lucite is hot in the blog world and I am no different. I would love this console with a different top.
Yes, I will one day work you into a room, you are fabulous.
Sigh....
The jury is still out on the legs, very cool and I appreciate that it is different, just not sure it is love...
BE.STILL.MY.HEART. There is not enough time in the day to tell you all the ways I would use this chair (or should I say "these" because I must have more than one).
While you are there be sure to check out the lighting too...
