This weekend I am headed to my old stomping ground, Memphis, TN, for the wedding of one of my best friends from college. It has been a while since this crowd has had a wedding and I can't wait to be together again.What are you doing? Any big plans? Or even better-no plans?

Crow's Abode

This month's Architectural Digest features the home of Sheryl Crow and it is worth a look....Throughout her house there are off the wall artifacts and pieces. I really love and appreciate that in decorating, it is nice to an individual's quirky side come out.
Oh this picture. I am not sure if it is what is in the room that draws me in so much or the photograph itself. Just the sun on the sofa is enough to make me want to jump right in.
Not that I know her personally or anything but this room looks like Sheryl Crow to me...
I had to include this picture. Her groundskeeper, Jose Edis Aviles, designed this staircase. It leads to "walking trials that traverse the property". I would not mind owning a home with its own walking trials....and I think the staircase is very cool.

Paint Project Inspiration

Remember this post about stenciling roller shades? I thought about when I came across this picture on Country Living...I was looking for this project. Still don't know if I will attempt this...
I would definitely try the shade project but I am not sure about the roller with the stencil. What do you think? Would you try it?

BP. INTERIORS PINS

So I thought I would try to articulate this one a little bit...

...I remember going to punk shows back when I was in high school and college and collecting these little 1" round pins of the bands Id see, some of my most treasured pins through the years came from bands like The Promise Ring, Converge, Orchid!, Joan of arc etc etc. As someone who is constantly looking to put a little bit of myself into everything I do creatively, whether that be a clients living room or taking photos on a trip to the coast, I am always aware that my mark is not accidental. My mark as a creative is built up of all the experiences I've had, all the places I've seen, all the people I've met and I carry that with me everywhere I go. When I started Brian Paquette Interiors a little over two years ago I wanted to challenge the normal aesthetic associated with an Interiors firm, what we did, who our clients were and where our ideas came from. I have had the absolute blessing to work on very traditional home settings that echo my upbringing on the east coast to very minimal spaces that bring to mind a more modern, sparse or "punk rock" look, whatever that may be. The only thing that I have ever taken seriously in all of this is my clients needs and making sure they are met. I am often asked what MY look is...or what aesthetic I respond to. For a long time I had a hard time answering this until I realized the answer wasn't a look but a feeling, sense memory. Walking into a space and feeling a connection on a deeper level than just surface comfort or visual pleasure. Seeing a shade of blue that reminded my what the beach looked like in early spring in Newport, a fabric on a sofa that looked like something my blazer in prep school would be made of, or just the lighting that brought me back to waking up in a yurt on the Oregon coast. This is what moves me as a designer, this is what I wake up for. To be honest, these pins are silly...but they reference a very important part of my life and so now I give them to you.
