Morning Snack- Feeling Funky

Lately I have been doing a lot Traditional work, which I love. You can never go wrong with a Traditional aesthetic. But then, I come across something like this and my funky side comes marching right out to the beat of its own drum.

Let's Go Outside

While catching up on my pile of catalogs I was loving all the new options in outdoor furniture, so many great options these days.
Above images Ballard Designs and below West Elm.

Also, spotted this at World Market, it could add happiness to any patio.

I would love to spend some time on any of these catching up on my magazine pile next. Have a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend!

Pull Up A Chair

The weekend is almost here! Last night I hosted a supper club for some of my favorite people so mine already started on the right foot. However, relaxation cannot begin just yet, a busy day is ahead. I am ready to prop up my feet for some R&R! Which brings me to this picture. I snapped it this week at a client's house. We recently reupholstered these chairs and they make me very happy. More to come as it progresses....Have a great weekend!

Start Spreading The News....

I am leaving today for...to see this guy, which you might remember from here, here or here.
Tuesday he will be taping a show that will feature an audience of all design bloggers and I thrilled to be included in this group.
Since I had a plus one I decided to take another very dapper man...my Dad. Not only does he love design but we always have a good time in New York together.
So I will leave you with some images from my bf Nate....
And I know I have posted about this little one before but I still want it...
A client and I were looking at this the other day...we are still debating...
I think this rug could be pretty cool too...
I will share with you how it all went later in the week when I get back south.

In The Detail...

This picture from the Anthropologie is eye catching to say the least...
But the best part is the detailing on the chair-the tufting, the contrast welt, the buttons up the arms, casters on the legs...And of course the back-
Thank you everyone for the Charleston recommendations, I wrote them all down!

Choosing Sides

A few weeks ago I was home visiting my parents when I spied this cart. It had been sitting in the basement, left from the previous owners, and somehow I had missed it until now.
So it came home with me and now resides as our new side table in the den.
I had the top cut out of left over marble and asked them to keep the bottom unfinished. I love the clean feel of the marble against the worn down wood but I wanted part of the marble to be imperfect as well.
I wish I knew the story behind it. We are thinking it might be a coal cart with the unique wheels but I would love to hear any guesses.
While the old side table was a hand me down that I did nothing for me, I loved what was underneath it. I had this vintage suitcase underneath with books stacked on top....now I will have to find it a new home.

For Like Ever

Today is our wedding anniversary, the anniversary of the day we promised forever no matter what. So in honor of that I thought I would post some things that I have loved...you guessed it, forever. As a decorator and well, really just an average human, I fall in love with new things all the time. Some though don't just pass as a phase, some stick for years. For example, this poster...I have loved this for years, well to be exact since the day this issue was delivered in my mailbox, September 2006 I believe...
Other items that have held my attention through the years (I know most of these have been on here before, what can I say?).....
Above Niermann Weeks Mansard Lantern, below CB2 Peekaboo Clear Console

While we are looking through things, I know I am not original on this one, but I LOVE the Philippe Starck Louis Ghost Chair.

A favorite piece from a favorite company...
Another old favorite from Market, not even sure if this is still available...I picture several of these around an old, worn farm table....
Just a few of many, many fabrics I LOVE. I generally don't post fabric because they don't look half as good as they do in person...

These below may be the first pattern I ever really really loved. Just trust me, in person they are very cool, oh and very pricey. It would take me DAYS to post all the fabrics I have loved for years.

When I step off the elevator at Market, Bobo is always the first showroom I see. Many of their pieces I have loved forever, this is just one....I know I am going against the majority here, but I LOVE this piece, well really it is two pieces put together. Most people think I am crazy (Hubby included), but it is just one of those random things that has always drawn me in. Once again, so much better in person.
A Swedish clock, I will have one somewhere in my house one day. These here.
Some oldies that are longer available that still call my name from beyond the grave, haha.

I could go on for a while but I will stop for now. This year instead of presents we are putting money towards a trip we are planning. Of course, last year's gift to each other is in the picture below and how do you top Harry?*This is only picture we have of all 3 of us, it is not a good picture of anyone (Harry included), how sad is that?

**One last thing, while this is not our "song", it always makes me think of spending forever with the one I love. While I like the video, I wish I knew how to just post the audio so there was nothing to distract from the words.

Thanks for sharing this day with me!

Chairs, Chairs, Chairs

I love this picture, not just because it is peaceful and beautiful but because I love the idea of using a chair as a bedside table.Chairs are one of the cheaper pieces of furniture out there when you are on a tight budget. Both of these pictures inspire me to rethink the position of the chairs in my house.
Have some chairs that need a little TLC? Maybe these before and afters will inspire you...

For cheap side chairs I have had great luck at at garage sales, antique shops and Ebay.

Another crazy day, I can't wait for the weekend and to catch up on my blog reading!
