Sitting by the Fire

How cute is this? I will try to make some posts this week, but I am back in Nashville for the week so it may be too hard to get things up. SO, IF I DON'T POST ANYMORE THIS WEEK I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A WONDERFUL AND SAFE THANKSGIVING AND I WILL BE BACK STARTING MONDAY. (although I really will try to post this week.)

Dearest Pen Pal.....

Sometimes I wonder if I am missing the stationery gene. While I do love it, it is never in the front of my mind. In fact, I hope we actually get Christmas cards out this year. However, the first time I saw this company I knew they were my type of people. So if you are looking for something out of the ordinary (not that I don't love traditional stationery) you should check out Fabulous StationeryGeometric, Bright, what's not to love?

Some home related cards (I know you are shocked)...

Does this remind you of a shrink? Would be so cute if that is your profession....
They have several categories, including babies, couples, and pets...but how do you find one that looks like this? This is as close to Harry as I could find....
Because it is getting to be that time.....
I have always had a thing for hand drawn buildings.

One of these days when I stop being so indecisive I will be their next client.
BTW- If you are in the Birmingham area (or even if you are not) a friend of mine is doing stationary and it is SOOOOOO cute! Please e-mail me for her information.

Goodbye Old Friend....

Needless to say I am still very depressed about Cottage Living. While it would take days to show y'all all the pages I have collected over the years from Cottage, I will leave you with some.....
Here we are however long down the road and I still dream of my office looking like this...

The arrow you see in the photograph is one of my notes, I will have a cabinet like this one in my bathroom one day.....I just first have to get a bathroom big enough to hold the cabinet...
Sorry some of these are terrible scans.

Love the light fixture, love the shelves, love the chair, I even love the purse beside the chair-

Saved the best for last.....I know most of you out there have seen this picture before....it hangs above my desk and when I meet with clients and ask them to show me what they like, I see this picture REPEATEDLY, it is universal....
The best part about Cottage Living is I could really see myself living in every room they ever showed, it was never over the top or stuffy. Thank you so much everyone who worked on Cottage Living, it was such a pleasure all these years and you will be greatly missed.

Black Wednesday

I am sure most of you have heard by now that Cottage Living has closed its doors. I COULD NOT BE MORE SAD. It was one of my favorite magazines and really the one that most mirrored my perfect homes....look for a much bigger tribute post over the next few days.....

From Candlesticks to Just Plain Sticks

Last year my mother in law and I went on a hunt for candlesticks-beautiful, aged looking wood candlesticks. Of course our search always lead us back to Aidan Gray......
I have looked high and low and while others are pretty good, there really is no comparison, but we still keep our eyes open. So this weekend she mentioned to me that Smith and Hawken is carrying some similiar and I went to check it out. Here is what I found:They are actually made by Aidan Gray but they are far less than the ones shown above, definitely worth a look. So as I was looking around I also stumbled on this.....

Decorative white branches. And while I have been trying to stay away from Holiday decorating until December, I had to post about these. Really they could be used year around. Can't you see them as a dramatic center piece, or on a mantel?

I am also loving the silver, however I am not loving the website picture, but you get the idea....
